Through Community Outreach, MTAC teachers and students share their musical resources, gifts, and expertise beyond studio walls. Music is meant to be shared, and MTAC branches are able to make a lasting impact on their communities through a wide variety of local programs.
Branch efforts develop music programs in underfunded public schools, provide scholarships to high school music students, offer free private lessons, and give performances in retirement and nursing homes. Branches also collaborate with local orchestras, choirs and youth chamber groups to sponsor concerts to raise money for organizations.
Students can earn community service hours through The Music Students’ Service League (MSSL). The program was created to emphasize service learning—simultaneously developing one’s study of music while sharing their talent. Services include giving recitals in retirement and nursing homes, helping new students with home practice, and assisting MTAC teachers at music events and activities. Branches can design their MSSL program to fit their own unique Branch needs.
